Paul Parmar –Board Member

Paul Parmar is a self made financier and business strategist, and is the founder and Chairman of Pegasus Blue Star Fund (www.pegasusbluestarfund.com) (“PBSF”), a private equity firm based in New York.  Through PBSF, Mr. Parmar owns a portfolio of operating companies in a wide range of industries, including healthcare; aerospace; media and entertainment; property development; strategic consulting and consumer products.

Mr. Parmar’s private equity investment approach draws heavily upon his experience in business strategy and process optimization, which he developed in his years as founder and CEO of Pegasus Consulting Group.  Instead of focusing on simple financial engineering, Mr. Parmar actively participates in all aspects of strategy, business development and operations for each of the PBSF portfolio companies.

In 1995 Mr. Parmar founded the management consulting firm Pegasus Consulting Group (www.pegasusconsultinggroup.com) (“PCG”), which helps the world’s leading companies optimize corporate strategies and processes.  Although he started with no financial backing or family money, Mr. Parmar quickly grew PCG into a global player, with over 700 employees in seven countries and a client list of Global 500 companies.

Inspired by the significant value creation that PCG was delivering to its client base and buoyed by its consistently strong cash flows, Mr. Parmar began making direct private equity investments that implemented his strategic vision.  In 2004 Mr. Parmar founded the private equity group Pegasus Blue Star Fund to formalize this growing portfolio, and assembled a small team of investment professionals with highly complementary skills to help implement his unique approach to investing.  PBSF has built a diverse portfolio and Mr. Parmar continues to work extensively on both strategy and operations at each one.

PBSF’s greatest source of competitive advantage derives from its close relationship with PCG, which truly sets it apart from other private equity firms with respect to its ability to drive fundamental change at the portfolio company level.  The PCG connection acts as a multiplier on PBSF’s capacity to immerse itself in the operating details of its portfolio companies, and empowers PBSF to “change the rules of the game” such that it can succeed in contexts where traditional financial engineering strategies would be value destructive.

Most of PBSF’s investments begin from one of two proven investment theses, each of which involves substantial “big picture” thinking.  One is a platform investment strategy, which starts by establishing competitive advantage in the market for a single product or service, then combines previously unrelated businesses into an integrated, synergistic offering.  The other is an emerging trends strategy, which capitalizes on PCG’s core strength in trend analysis by making early, well-planned investments in areas of strategic growth.
